Manny Perez, the inventor of TM1, shares his story on how he got the idea and influences to build TM1. A database born from working at Exxon to develop a prototype to replace a time sharing planning system. Manny's discovery to build an in-memory functional database for the prototype was not easy an easy sell to IT, as relational databases was the dominant technology in the 1980s.
